Our Beliefs
-
The Bible is the divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God. It is God’s revelation of himself to man, to be accepted in its entirety as the final authority in matters of faith and practice. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ.
-
The eternal triune God exists coequally in three persons as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, subsisting as one divine nature. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are identical in their being, each wholly God, none greater or lesser, indivisible with inseparable operations, with one will and one mind, but with distinct attributes, properties, and works.
-
God as Father sovereignly reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. Father in truth to those who are born again into His family through faith in Jesus Christ
-
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived in this world with perfect personal obedience-without sin, was crucified, and in His substitutionary death made provision for the redemption from sin for all who receive Him as Savior and Lord. He was buried and on the third day rose from the dead. He ascended to God the Father and will come again to receive to Himself the redeemed, and pass judgment on all who reject Him as Savior and Lord.
-
The Holy Spirit is fully divine, convicting unbelievers of sin, calling them to the Savior, effecting regeneration, indwelling and sealing every believer, and baptizing each into the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit works in the believer's life by glorifying Christ; by cultivating Christian character; by comforting, empowering, filing, and guiding the believer into all truth; and by bestowing spiritual gifts with which the believer serves God through His church.
-
Salvation is the redemption of the whole person. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and it is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We are saved by grace, through faith in Christ Jesus. Sealed by the Holy Spirit, the believer is unable to lose their salvation and progresses towards spiritual maturity (Christlikeness) one day culminating in glorification whereby believers stand faultless before God in glory for all eternity.
-
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; while both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. The church is also the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.
-
The ordinance of baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead.
-
The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming
-
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. God’s revealed will for all people is chastity outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage.
Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. All mankind is made in the image of God. God created his image-bearers as distinctly male and female as determined by one’s chromosomal structure at birth.
